Open 'raeWinterWonderLayers' at PSP
-
Open the 'Bridgenorth.ttf' and minimize
-
Move the 'raeSilver.q5q' SBP Preset to your FlamingPear ~ Environments&Textures
-
You'll open the 'glitter dots' 'glitter reins' and 'glitter harness' later ~ at Animation Shop
1. First.. notice both 'Scene' layers are OFF.. One has a Moon.. One doesnt. It will be you choice ~ which to use. You don't have to commit to either until Step #4.
From this point on I will refer to 'Winterscene layer'.. but you decide which to use
At your 'WinterWonder' layers :
- Highlight the 'WinterScene' layer
- Add a New raster layer - named 'glitter'
Airbrush Tool :
Color >> White
- trace along the tree edges ~ even tho tempted, don't venture outside the trees and into their shadows ..this looks best with the spray clinging to the branch edges
Here, I used pink, for the example **you won't be able to see much at your trees..but that's good :
2.
Change your Airbrush settings *color remains White :
- Sweep from the lead Reindeer to beyond the Sleigh *just Once, lightly ..see screenshot, below
- Moon - Center and Two Clicks of spray
- **please hold back from overdoing the spray - the glitter should be subtle ..
- ***center your brush at the moon and click - don't move it - click once or twice, quickly. To hold the click deposits more spray.
-
- ****the spray won't look like much, now, in the sky nor at the trees and that's good. You'll give it more glitz at AS
Example, in Pink - take care not to spray, under the sleigh, into the treetops :
Highlite the 'SleighReindeer' layer :
- Selections > Select All
- Selections > Float
- Keep Selected > Highlight/Select the 'glitter' layer
- Hit Delete at your Keyboard - to remove the glitter directly underside the sleigh
- Select None
- *we'll finish the glitz, later, when we move to Animation Shop
|
Here, I'll show you how to make your curved text in the center, if you'd like to add a greeting there :
- Highlight the 'Vector' layer
- Text Tool open

- Text - Create as : Vector Alignment : Left
- touch the far left of the vector line/curve
- When you see the 'A' appear - enter your text *have no concern if it runs beyond and off the line
*when you see the A.. enter your text
*I've used Blue, only for example
*Push the Vector Node toward the line.. adjusting the text to sit on the curve. Push and pull it till you see your text balanced on the curve.
*when you're happy with it - open the Vector Group - turn OFF the 'path' to remove the vector line from your image.
- Right Click at your vector layer = Convert to Raster .. rename to 'text'
|
Here follow Two Text Styles ~ First up is one using SuperBladePro
~ Second is one using EyeCandy 3 *inside blue window
3.
Highlight the 'text' layer (**or highlight the 'Frosted Frame' layer - if you chose not to use the vector line) :
Your preferred Font - I used 'Bridgenorth', these settings :
- Apply your Text
- Make sure it's Floating
- Apply SBP Preset 'raeSilver' (**or the 'EyeCandy Chrome', below)
*shown finished w/ drop shadow
|
Text using EyeCandy 3.1 > Chrome
Float your text ~ Apply EC > Chrome
*text and picture only an example |
For Both text styles ...
At your text :
Select None
-
- Duplicate the text layer
- At the Duplicate layer - change the Blend Mode to 'Hardlight'
-
- Move down to the initial text layer
- Drop Shadow
OK, now we're going to prepare for Animation Shop
4.
While at PSP -
- Duplicate the 'SleighReindeer' layer
- At the 'Copy of' layer ~ drop the transparency to approximately 30 * this will be a guide for you at AS
Turn OFF all layers ~ but for the 'WinterScene' and the 'Copy of SleighReindeer'
- Highlight the 'WinterScene' layer
- Merge Visible
- Turn that layer OFF
Turn ON ~ the two Text layers and 'Frosted Frame' and 'SleighReindeer'
Turn All Layers to ON
your palette should look like this :
*renamed back to WinterScene
- Save AS > a PaintShop Pro Image.psp
5.
At AnimationShop -
- Open your saved .psp image
- Select Frame #2 *glitter spray
- Edit > Copy
- Right Click > 'Paste As a New Animation' into your workspace
- Effects > Insert Image Effect > Noise :
Customize >>>
6.
Remain at Animation Shop -
- At your .psp frames images > Select Frame #1 *WinterScene > Copy > 'Paste as a New Animation' into your workspace
- Right Click > Duplicate to 8 Frames total
- Edit > Select All
- Edit > Propagate Paste
Select your Glitter/Noise frames :
- Edit > Select All
- Edit > Copy
- At your 8 Winterscene frames > Right click > 'Paste into Selected Frame'
- To position precisely > pay attention to precisely fitting around the reindeer
- Play > if you're happy with your placement, we'll move to the next glitter steps
Ok.. please keep repeating this to yourself as you move through the next glitter steps ~ Less Is More
You may want to go nuts but hold back. You'll get a much prettier card by using a delicate touch.
7.
Remain at AS -
- Open the 'Pink dots1'
- Edit > Select All
- Edit > Copy
- Right Click > Paste Into Selected Frame .. from the sleigh > under and behind
- Repeat several times - stagger them a bit ..don't be afraid to let them lay over parts of the sleigh
-
- **don't paste these dots forward of the sleigh - they're too big. You'll use the other pink dots for that - at a step further in this tut.
8.
Open the 'Blue' dots :
- Edit > Select All
- Edit > Copy
- paste from the lead reindeer - working back to the sleigh
here is example of my partial placement, so far .. I'm also pasting once into each reindeer's antlers and at the breast of each :
9.
Open the 'White' dots
- Edit > Select All
- Edit > Copy
- place them once, between the reindeer and from the breast at the lead reindeer.. working back and to behind the sleigh :
-
- **You don't want to make a big, round cloud.. but taper the dots from the lead reindeer and sweep back.. .. let the large pink dots fade out, at the outside, behind the sleigh. Doing so will help give the impression of movement
10.
Open the 'Pink dots2' :
- Edit > Select All
- Edit > Copy
- paste only a few times - forward the sleigh ** less is more
11.
To ensure that you can place your frame and reindeer, exactly - we're going to move to PSP :
- At the three frames .psp > Copy the card-frame with text and sleigh (3rd frame)
- At your animation / 8 frames :
- Edit > Export Frames to PaintShop Pro
12.
At PSP :
- Layer Palette > Highlight Frame 8
- Right Click at the canvas > 'Paste as a New Layer'
At the New Layer :
- Selections > Select All
- Selections > Float
- Edit > Copy
-
Highlight Frame 8 :
- At the canvas > Right Click > 'Paste Into Selection'
- Repeat at each frame
When you've finished pasting into each frame :
- Selections > Select None
- DELETE the New Layer
- Close the Image
- "Save Changes to Image#?" > No
- "Would you like to update back to Animation Shop?" > Yes
13. At Animation Shop :
Open the 'GlitterReins'
- Edit > Select All
- Edit > Copy
Paste into your 8 frames ~ taking care to position the points at mid back.. and to come from Santa's glove :
Now Open the 'glitter harness' .. select all and copy ~ paste at each nearest reindeer *it helps to Zoom In :
14.
I went back and added 'white dots' low into each set of antlers :
You can also run back over to PSP.. use the first setting for the Airbrush *the size you used at the trees (STEP #1) .. Make a New raster layer and trace the highlights at the sleigh .. at his beard and cuffs *lightly ..maybe here and there at the snowman and bunny.
Copy and paste as a new image at AS.. then apply Noise
Delete the 1st frame.. select all > copy.. paste into your animation
Optimization Wizard > Customize button :
Colors tab >
- drop the Colors to 127 * it will reduce the Kb's.. as will resizing
- Optimized Octree
- Error Diffusion
At Optimizations tab > I checked everything
Partial Transparency.. I used a number of 48.. color is unimportant
You're finished!
Hope you enjoyed the 'ride'!
