~ Supplies Here ~

To save time and because a pay filter was needed - I have premade the soap bars.  I've premade the soapy bubbles, as well.   They, both, are a tutorial of their own - were I to tell you how to make them.. and I think you'll have plenty, following, to keep you busy

**Please don't try to cut corners in this tut..  trust me, each step and layer is necessary to get the desired effect - which you'll find to be true if you cut a corner.

Take your time - I've tried to make it as concise and simple as possible.. besides, you're going to learn a few things here!

 ~ off we go ~

1.

Open a new canvas 500X500  .......  Floodfill with Foreground/Background gradient created with these colors:

2.

Effects > Texture > Tiles :

With your Magic Wand :

and click into the black lines, selecting them.     Grab your paintbrush > color White > any size and stroke over the selection, coloring over the black.  Make sure to go completely to the edges and corners.

Selections>Invert.

Effects > Texture > Texture :

**note..this tag also looks great without the texture added..so the tiles are smooth.  You choose which you prefer  ..  yours may look like this

Select None.

Duplicate the layer

  • Change the Blend Mode to Multiply at duplicated layer
  •
  • Drop the transparency to 30
  • Merge visible

3.

Open the SoapBar and copy  ..  Paste as a New Layer at your tiles  ..  leave it at the center of your canvas.

Preset Shape tool  ..  find the Trillium preset  ..  Foreground null/Background White  ..  Antialias & Create as Vector checked.   Pull a shape wider than the soap (say by 1 1/2 tiles on either side) and a few tile-squares deep.

Image > Flip  ..  move to position just covering the bottom edge of the soap.  Use the nodes to shape your 'dish' as needed.

Convert to Raster.

4.

Effects > 3D > Inner Bevel :

Selection tool set to Rectangle .. draw a shape from one side to the other - through the far 'points' of the dish  ..then right-click inside the rectangle to surround the shape.

Effects > 3D > Outer Bevel :

Select none.

5.

Now's a good time to take a moment to name your layers..  Tiles; Soap; & Dish.

We'll be adding new layers for drop shadows and more and you'll need to know where you are.

6.

Take your Lasso tool.. set Point to Point  ..  Feather 10

At the Tile layer ..  Draw a selection around the soap and dish (not above the soap):

While the area is selected/marching .. right click at the Tile layer/Layer Palette and 'Promote Selection to Layer'.

Select none  ..  then at the Promoted layer ..  change the Blend Mode to Multiply:

 7.

Turn off the Dish and Soap layer .. Merge Visible the two tile layers..  Rename to Tiles.

Add two new layers - named as in the example:

8.

On the Droplets layer .. Effects > Artistic > Balls and Bubbles :

You'll see that some of the drops have a dark border - we'll remove that:

Take the magic wand  - bring the Feather down to 0 again - and click into the background on your Droplets layer ..

Go to Selections > Modify > Feather set to 5  ..  then at your keyboard, hit the Delete key 6 or 7 times ..  Select none.  The dark borders should be gone or very much softened.

9.

Turn your Soap and Dish layers back On.

The waterdrops are too 'round' so we're going to reshape some of them to look more like 'blobs' than balls.

At the Droplets layer -

Using the Warp brush :

.. grab just the outer edges of the circles and gently nudge and pull the border into a more irregular shape..  you can also nudge some to 'run' into the grout lines.. just like you'd see in your shower.  There isn't a need to do this to every single ball and bubble..  it's perfectly fine to leave some untouched, especially the smallest...

10.

When finished with the warp brush .. go to Adjust > Sharpness > Unsharp Mask :

11.

We'll give them a drop shadow now but it needs to be on a separate layer.

Select All/Float the Droplets layer  ..

At the Layer Palette ..  select/highlight the Shadow layer.

Effects > 3D > Drop Shadow :

Select none.

Doesn't look so great?  Well.. now's magic time  ..

At the layer palette..  change the blend modes as shown:

12.

Now we'll put some water drops on the soap.  The next set of instructions will seem confusing..  take the layer selections one step at a time - we have to have the correct layer selected as we go forward in order for the effects to work.

Select the Soap layer at the Layer Palette  ..  Add a New Raster Layer - name it 'Shadow2'  ..  add another New Raster Layer  .. name it 'Soap Droplets'.

Your Layer Palette should look like this:

Layer Palette, highlight the Soap Layer  ..  Selections > Select All/Float

Keep selected and highlight the Soap Droplets layer at the Layer Palette

Effects > Artistic > Balls and Bubbles :

  • same settings but you may want to play the 'Random Seed number' to get a nice pattern on your bar

Select none.

Highlight the Soap Droplets layer and, again, click into the background at your canvas with the Magic Wand

Go to Selections > Modify > Feather set to 5  ..  then at your keyboard, hit the Delete key 6 or 7 times ..  Select none.  The dark borders should be gone or very much softened.

Warp Brush again.. current setting and as you did with the previous water drops.. nudge the borders.

Erase any cut-off bubbles that are at the very edges of the soap.

Adjust > Unsharp mask with the current setting

Soap droplets layer ..  Selections > Select All > Float

Highlight the Shadow 2 layer ..  apply Drop Shadow with these settings:

At the Layer Palette ..  change the blend modes > SoapDroplets to Overlay > Shadow2 to Multiply

You should have something like this now (example is cropped/resized):

13.

Now comes the fun part   .. you get to be as creative as you like.

First we'll add some new layers.

  • At the Layer Palette ..  highlight your Droplets layer > add a New Raster layer..  name it 'Bubble1'
  • Highlight the Soap layer > add a New Raster ..  name it 'Text'
  • At the Text layer > add another New Raster layer ..  name it 'Bubble2'
  • At the Dish layer > add a new Raster layer .. name it 'Bubble3'
  • your palette should look like this:

14.

We'll add your Name..  choose any font you like..  I'm using 'Alba Super'.  You'll probably have to play around with a few choices until you find one that fits your name into the bar nicely. .. we'll be making your text as a Vector layer to enable forming it to fit without losing quality.

Text  ..Create as 'Vector'  .. Foreground null.. color is unimportant.. Antialias checked..  *if you have PSPv9 - choose 'Sharp'.  Adjust the Kerning if your letters are leaving valuable excess space between each other - but keep the letters separated.

After applying the text - use the nodes to pull/push the name to fit *if your name is very long, you may want to find a font this isn't as 'fat' as Alba Super

Convert To Raster Layer..  Select all/float  ..  add a New Raster layer.

Effects > 3D > Cutout :

Effects > 3D > Drop Shadow :

Select None  ..  hit Delete on your keyboard.

**If you'd like to do a cutout with a dingbat to decorate your soap - just open your text tool - the Vector will make it's own layer..  and follow the same steps with the dingbat as you did to make your text..

15.

Open your Picture Tube tool and browse to 'rae_rainbow_bubbles' .. Scale 130, Step 200..Random/Random

Select layer 'Bubble2'  ..  we're going to place a few bubbles at the top of the bar of soap.

Start with one or two bubbles at 130 scale.. then drop the scale as you place a few more around them..down to scale 25 (we'll add smaller ones later for 'foam')..  place them on the bar like this:

then take your eraser and set the hardness to around 45..full density and opacity.. and erase the bottoms off, like this:

*be careful not to overdo adding the bubbles here.. we'll be adding more for a foamy effect later

16.

Now choose the Bubble1 layer..  add a few Large and Medium-sized bubbles at the bottom corners of the soap bar and dish.

17.

Choose Bubble2 again ..  pop the Scale back up to around 130 and add some random bubbles..  go down in scale as you do..  remember how soap 'piles up' so start considering, now, how to place the bubbles in shape and size to keep a lofty effect.

Do the same at Bubble3.

*it's best not to add too many at one layer - you can go back and forth between these layers with sizes and placement etc. until you have the 3D look.   You may also add another layer to the top if you want.

This is what I have now:

18.

Now we'll add all clear bubbles to make a foamy look and add the finishing touches.

At your Picture Tubes - browse to 'rae_clear bubble'  .. bring the Scale to about 25..  Step 200 .. Random/Random.

Start drawing around the bubble layers with the bubbles.. Then drop the Scale to about 10 .. you can also make small bits/streaks of 'foam' on the bar face, as well, the tiles..  like this:  *my example has shadows added

19.

Now is the time to take your eraser again and go to the water droplet/shadow layers that are on the tiles.. and erase both of any water drops/shadows that interfere or distract..those that are under your foam, etc.

20.

Finishing touches.. the drop shadows for the bubbles on your soap bar and dripping off the dish (not on the tiles) ..  first we'll make three new layers (make 4 if you added a fourth Bubble layer):

  • Duplicate Bubble1 layer
  • Select all/Float
  • Select Bubble1 layer again
  • At your Keyboard - hit the Delete Key three times
  • Effects > 3D > Drop Shadow with 'BubbleShadows' preset or these numbers:
  •
  • Select None
  • Choose Bubble1 layer and change the Blend Mode to 'Multiply'
  • Duplicate Bubble2 layer
  • Select all/Float
  • Select Bubble2 layer again
  • At your Keyboard - hit the Delete Key three times
  • Effects > 3D > Drop Shadow with 'BubbleShadows'
  • Select None
  • Choose Bubble2 layer and change the Blend Mode to 'Multiply'
  • Duplicate Bubble3 layer
  • Select all/Float
  • Select Bubble3 layer again
  • At your Keyboard - hit the Delete Key three times
  • Effects > 3D > Drop Shadow with 'BubbleShadows'
  • Select None
  • Choose Bubble3 layer and change the Blend Mode to 'Multiply'

*Do again if you made any other bubble layers

21.

Repeat the above steps for the bubbles/foam on the tiles - but use these DropShadow settings:

22.

Once you've done that?  Guess what?

Time to Merge Visible!..  finally .. *Ü*

**Of course, since every step of the way is still on it's own layer - you can go back, first, and redo any step that you're not completely happy with before we go on to make your Frame.

23.

Crop around your image - just to the blue edge of the tiles like this  *yours will be larger, of course

Image > Add Borders  ..  2 pixels ..  symmetric checked  .. white

again:

Image > Add Borders  ..  10 pixels  ..  symmetric  .. any color but White

  • Right click your Layer palette and 'Promote Background'
  • Magic Wand into the 10 pixel border and hit Delete on your keyboard
  • Select None
  • New Raster Layer - move to the bottom
  • Flood fill with #89BDE4

Effects > Texture > Tiles with current settings

Magic Wand into the black lines to select as we did previously

  • With your paintbrush /White - paint around the edges and into the corners
  • Selections > Invert

Effects > Texture > Texture with current settings.

Duplicate the layer and change the blend mode to Multiply

Merge Visible.

Now you can resize and save as a JPEG  .. or come along through some very simple steps (I promise!) to animate your tag:

24.

You've taken a lot of time to make your tag.. so I've gone ahead and made two animated bubbles for you to use at Animation Shop.

Otherwise - If you aren't totally frustrated and tired now..  feel free to make your own animations ..*Ü*

  • Copy your Tag at PSP and Open AS..  Paste as a New Animation
  • Duplicate to 15 frames  ..  Edit/Select All >  Edit/Propagate Paste
  • Browse to open both pre-made animated bubbles - 'Bubble float1 and Bubble float 2'
  • Select Bubble1 > Edit/SelectAll > Edit/Copy
  • At your 15 frames - click to select Frame #1
  • Hold the Shift Key and scroll to Frame #14 - click into #14 to select that series of frames
  • Right click > Paste into Selected Frame

Place it where it will appear to come out of a same-size bubble (resize if necessary)

  • choose another bubble to have the next animation rise out of.
  • Open 'Bubble Float2' and resize to approximate the bubble in your image (if necessary)
  • Edit/Select All/Copy 'Bubble Float2'
  • At your 15 frames - click into Frame #7..  hold Shift and click into Frame#10
  • Click to place

Now Edit/Select All frames..

  • Animation > Frame Properties > 21

Select Frame #15..

  • Animation > Frame Properties > 150

Play it!..  if you're happy.. Resize..

Optimize:

Colors tab:

  • 255 Colors
  • Optimized Median Cut
  • Error Diffusion

Optimizations tab:

  • Write Minimal Frames
  • Map Identical to Transparent

~ Congratulations!..  I'd love to see your tag! ~

thank you for trying my tut
