Written for PSP 9
This Tutorial will be more difficult to do in PSP 7 and 8 - since the capability to use the Directional Arrows/keyboard is limited in both - by using the Deformation Tool - it deselects your text.
This is a very easy and fun tut - I'm giving you the basics but you will come up with some eye-popping ideas, I'm sure!
1. Open a Transparent canvas .. 600X500
- Flood fill with one of the Patterns, provided, under the Graphics category.
- *I'm using Graphic#12.
Add a New Raster layer - name it 'Move'
- Flood fill with a contrasting pattern #
- *I'm using Graphic#4
- At the Layer Palette > change the Blend Mode to 'Difference'

2. While at the 'Move' layer > Open Text Tool
*I'm using font 'Freestyle'
Background your choice of color .. Foreground > Null
- Add text > use the vector nodes to shape your text to what size you want
-
- Convert to Raster
-
- **you can use the Color Replacer Tool to change the colors
3. Open your Magic Wand
- Wand outside the text outlines
- Hold Shift > wand into the letter openings in A, B, D, etc.
-
- Selections > Modify > Expand by 2
- Keep Selection active
-
- Highlight the 'Move' layer > Hit Delete at Keyboard
-
- Highlight the bottom graphic layer > Hit Delete at Keyboard
- Keep Selection active
-
- Merge Visible
- Keep Selection active
-
- Click the layer title - 'Merged' > drag off the layer palette > drop into your workspace to create a new canvas
-
- Return to your work canvas > Undo till both graphic layers return to fill the canvas
- Keep Selection active
4. Open your Mover Tool > Select the 'Move' layer
- Hold the Shift key
- At your keyboard/directional arrow keys > Simultaneously click the Down and Right arrows
-
- Hit Delete on your keyboard for both the Move and bottom graphic layer
- Keep Selection active
-
- Merge Visible
- Drag over to the new canvas > adding the new layer
-
- Undo just until both graphics layers return to the canvas / outside the selected area
5. Repeat the above steps, continuing to adjust the 'Move' layer and deleting, merging, dragging, etc. until you have 5 Raster layers at your new canvas
Save the 5 layers as a Paint Shop Pro Image (*.psp)
6. At Animation Shop, browse to open the .psp file
- As long as you used the Scale, above, for the Graphics layers - your animation should play smoothly
- You're done!
If use other graphic style #'s.. or a differing Scale, etc. .. you may have to add another layer or two, at PSP, to get the animation running smoothly.
Experiment with direction of movement, graphics combinations and colors.. bevels and any sort of SBP preset, etc.
The limit is only your imagination ! .. Have fun!
