This tutorial is written for PSP9 but should translate to version8.
It calls for one outside Filter ..

**Tut Supplies are Here
- Move the SBP presets to your 'Flaming Pear/Environments & Textures' folder
- Drop the 'ChrisBabyBoots.jgd' to your PSP Gradients folder
- Drop the the 'EdgeRipples' mask to your PSP Masks folder
- Move the 'Burst' tube to your PSP Picture Tubes folder
- Open 'rae_dragonfly' at PSP
- Open the 'Burst Sparkle' animation at AnimationShop
- Open the two fonts 'Renaissance & Splendid ES' .. minimize to your task tray
1.
Open a new canvas - transparent 500X400 *we'll resize later
- Flood fill with gradient 'Chris Baby Boots' - Style Linear; Angle 45; Repeats 0
- New Raster Layer
- Flood Fill with White
- Layers > Load/Save Mask >Load Mask from Disc :

Image > Add Borders > 6 Pixels > Symmetric checked > Black
- Magic Wand into the black border > Flood Fill with gradient again
- Keep selected
- Image > Flip
- At layer palette > right click and Promote Selection to Layer >Duplicate:

- Keep selected
- Effects > FlamingPear/SuperBladePro > 'Teph Polyurethane'
- Keep Selected > highlight the middle layer
- Effects > FlamingPear/SuperBladePro > 'Pretty Glass'
- Repeat the 'Pretty Glass' preset
- Select None
- At layer Palette - top layer (the teph poly preset) - Blend Mode > Overlay:
- Merge Layers visible > rename layer as 'Base'

Add a New Raster layer > duplicate > remain at top layer :

Text Tool .. 'Renaissance' .. Floating (*choose Vector if you have a very long name and use the nodes to fit to the text into the canvas.. or if you have two words in your name - stack them like I have in the example) .. Size 90 ..antialias enabled ..Kerning 0

Materials > Foreground Null > Background > Gradient 'Chris baby Boots' with current settings

Enter your text
-
Move to the middle layer and change your font to 'Splendid ES'

enter the numeral '6'
-
select none
-
with your Mover tool - place your 'swirly' to intersect with your text and look a part of it.. leaving enough room between the tail end and the base frame to accomodate your dragonfly.. about an inch
-
Turn off the Base layer
-
Merge the text layers.. rename to 'Text' ..change position on the canvas if needed

Duplicate.. turn base On

Choose the Top text layer :

Select All/Float
- Effects > FlamingPear/SuperBladePro > 'Teph Polyurethane'
- Keep Selected > highlight the middle layer
- Effects > FlamingPear/SuperBladePro > 'Pretty Glass'
- Repeat the 'Pretty Glass' preset
- Select None
- At layer Palette - top layer (the teph poly preset) - Blend Mode > Multiply
- Select none

Highlight the top text layer > add a New Raster layer
Open your dragonfly > copy :

Add another Raster layer > open your Picture Tube tool :

'Burst' at scale 100
-
place one at your 'initial' letter
-
change the scale to 55
-
place a few into your letters, etc. .. then a couple between the dragonfly tail and swirly
-
You can use your Selection or Lasso tool to surround one at a time and move them if you aren't pleased with your placement

Turn off the Base layer > Merge layers Visible :

Add a New Raster layer *at Base (you'll be adding a layer between the text and the base)

Highlight the text (top) layer > Select All/Float
-
Move to the middle layer > Drop Shadow :
-
Select none
-
Turn Base layer On

At Base layer > open the Deformation tool :

At the Base layer > Select All/Float > Invert

Open Animation Shop > Paste as a New Animation :
Browse to Open the 'Burst Sparkle' animation :
Resize the burst sparkle :
Now play and if you're satisfied > resize and send through Optimization:

255 colors .. Optimized Octree .. Error Diffusion

Write Minimal Frames .. Map Identical Pixels to Transparent

this is how I have my partial Transparency set most of the time.. much better result than using White for most transparent optimizations:
